Job Description
We are seeking a proficient Unreal Engine Artist for our Science Table product. As part of this role, you will contribute to high-quality real-time visualizations of diverse science simulations, collaborate with other 3D modelers and software engineers, and oversee the visual aspects of our projects.
Responsibilities
- Understanding the design requirements for the visual aspects of the simulations, and translating the visualization ideas into the scene with related components - including mesh quality optimizations, materials, and lighting development, as well as rigging and animation development.
- Collaborating with global teams on multiple parallel projects, focusing on the visual artist role within Unreal Engine, and managing asset workflows.
- Working closely with the C++ developers in the team.
- Staying updated on the latest technologies and trends in real-time 3D visualizations.
- Guiding other 3D modelers on best practices when using Unreal Engine.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience as a 3D artist/modeler.
- At least 2 years of experience with 3D modeling tools.
- At least 2 years of experience with Unreal Engine.
Required Qualifications
- Portfolio demonstrating artistic abilities in color selection, materials, and lighting.
- Portfolio demonstrating skills in translating concept sketches to realistic 3D scenes. The portfolio should include projects using Unreal Engine.
- Proficiency with at least one 3D modeling tool (Maya, Blender, Zbrush, etc.) and one 2D graphics tool (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
- Experience in asset workflows, materials development, lighting development, animations, and basic VFX in Unreal Engine.
- Basic understanding of Blueprint scripting in Unreal Engine.
Desired Qualifications
- At least 4 years of professional experience in Unreal Engine.
- Experience with material shaders using HLSL.
- Experience in developing riggings for skeletal meshes.
- Experience with ray-traced scene properties and optimizations in Unreal Engine.
- Familiarity with external advanced material and simulation tools such as Substance or Houdini.
- Proficiency with advanced Niagara particle systems and scripting.
- Experience in advanced Blueprint scripting or C++ development in Unreal Engine.
- Experience collaborating with software engineers on highly interactive 3D applications or games.
- Experience or education in general sciences - Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
